The P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists was founded in May 1965. With nearly 300 members, whose work represents all visual-arts media. In 2015 PSA marked its 50th year dedicated to providing its members with opportunities to exhibit their art, both in the Pittsburgh area and beyond southwestern Pennsylvania.
In addition to providing exhibition opportunities, the Society since its inception has been dedicated to encouraging creative thinking about the arts through public dialogue. At our general membership meetings, held twice a year, the guild engages speakers to explore some aspect of the arts. The general public has always been invited to these stimulating programs.
Any individual eighteen years old or older who lives within 150 miles of Pittsburgh may apply for membership by submitting three original pieces of art to a screening by the Board of Directors. Screenings are held in the spring and fall of each year.
The P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists is proud to present the Artist’s Choice Exhibition at the Greensburg Art Center in Greensburg. Entry for this exhibition will be unjuried, giving all of our members an opportunity to submit and exhibit work. Members will be allowed to choose one of their favorite pieces to be shown in the exhibition. We are thrilled to provide this opportunity and look forward to another outstanding year filled with celebration and art!

The PITTSBURGH Society of Artists is an organization run by artists for the benefit of artists. The guild has no professional staff. Consequently, administration and leadership is achieved through the participation of its members.
We are seeking two positions on the Board of Directors:
• VICE PRESIDENT
• PROGRAM/EVENTS CHAIR
The VICE PRESIDENT stands in for the president when the president is unavailable. The vice president often is later elected as president when the current president's term ends. While the current president has remaining time in office, this is an ideal time to fill the position of vice president.
The PROGRAM/EVENTS CHAIR is responsible for preparing, organizing and presenting educational and art-related programs for PITTSBURGH Society of Artists members. This could also include hosting workshops, art critiques and coordinating art outings. (Previous outings have included the Frick, Phipps, the Warhol and the Pittsburgh Botanical Gardens.) This is a rewarding job that allows you to leave your studio and connect with other like-minded artists in the community. It is a great way to create a sense of community and learn more about other artists’ creative processes.
